At least two law enforcement officers were shot this morning in Sebastian County, Arkansas, according to the Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office. As 5News.com reports, the shooting suspect is not being cooperative and is carrying a semi-automatic weapon. The suspect is still at large.

One of the officers is a Sebastian County deputy and the other is the Hackett chief of police, Darrell Spells, the sheriff’s office said. One of the officers was taken to the hospital, but the officer was not identified. However, two ambulances left the scene.

Neither of the officer’s conditions are known.

The shooting happened near the intersection of Highway 253 and Boone Road around 7:15 a.m. Drivers said Highway 253 is blocked in both the north and southbound directions.

The Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Smith Police, Greenwood Police and Arkansas State Police are all responding to the shooting.

Sebastian County’s Phil Pevehouse said the shooting suspect is not being cooperative and is carrying a semi-automatic weapon.

Two helicopters have been deployed to search for the suspect, who is still on the loose in the area.

Sebastian County sheriff’s office investigator Philip Pevehouse said the two officers were hit while responding to an unspecified call for service. He said the shooter is thought to still be in the house.

“We believe him to be holed up currently,” Pevehouse said shortly before 9 a.m.

Law enforcement have surrounded the home and the SWAT team was on scene.
